Dear brothers and sisters,

As we go through life, we often long to hear someone tell us, “It’s okay.” Yet when the deep wounds of our lives, our failures, and the guilt we cannot tell anyone about come rushing in, who in this world can truly say to us, “It’s okay”?

In a world that condemns us by saying, “You’ve made too many mistakes,” “You’re not qualified,” or “You’re wrong,” there is One who speaks to our weary souls and says, “It’s okay. I embrace you. It’s okay!”

Today’s passage, Romans 10:13, proclaims this wonderful assurance of salvation:

[Romans 10:13] For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

The word “everyone” here is incredibly moving. It asks for no qualifications and imposes no conditions. No matter what failures we have experienced or how heavy the burden of our sins may be, if we simply call on the name of the Lord, He receives us and says, “It’s okay!”

Then how did this amazing grace, this message of salvation in which the Lord embraces us and says, “It’s okay,” reach us?

The Apostle Paul asks this question in verses 14 and 15:

[Romans 10:14–15] How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’

Salvation is not something we receive through our own strength or qualifications. Someone proclaimed the gospel, and because we heard that message, we were able to call on the name of the Lord.

Today, we are able to sit here and worship because there was someone who boldly proclaimed to us, “It’s okay with Jesus!”

Even now, God desires to send us as messengers of the gospel to those who are living in despair under the wounds and condemnation of this world.

Living in a foreign country like New Zealand, there are times when we run into language barriers and feel crushed by the weight of life. Have you ever found yourself wondering, “Am I really acceptable in God’s eyes?” and condemning yourself?

At those moments, the Lord comes to us and says,

“Your weaknesses and your failures have all been forgiven through the love of My cross. It’s okay! with Jesus.”

And now, as those who have received that grace, we must go out into the world.

We must become the beautiful feet that bring this good news to our neighbours who are trapped in despair and to souls who have lost hope in life, proclaiming, “In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Your life has hope. It’s okay with Jesus.”

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today, listen to the voice of the Lord speaking to your soul:

[Romans 10:13] For, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

No matter what your past may be, and regardless of how heavy your present circumstances are, the Lord has already declared over you, through the love of the cross, “It’s okay!”

Holding firmly to this amazing grace of atonement and the joy of salvation, do not give in to the condemnation and fear of this world. Instead, rely on the love of the cross that has given you life, call on the name of the Lord every day, and walk in victory with confidence.

And may you become precious channels of the gospel, sharing the Lord’s comforting love and good news with the world. I earnestly pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that each one of you will live as a faithful messenger of His grace.
